#fatmY reports back

hi! that's me eating baby eels above!

welcome to mY thoughts on the various meals i devour. food is mY passion and it has consumed me (the irony). my goal is to build an empire (food related of course) and ultimately, world domination! just kidding, well not about the empire. i want to one day share mY culinary experience with the rest of the world in the form of exciting, delectable consumption and not just for sustenance.

if you don’t like reading then check out mY picture page: minimal reading and minimal effort at #fatmY tumblr

i would love to hear about your food adventures (or anything else you'd like to share with me)! feel free to email me at hello@hashtagfatmY.com

where do you eat when you’re strapped for cash? you abuse that tastecard and you book yourself a seat someplace offering 50% discount! they offer a 30 day free trial to new members =)

mY hubby (leena) and i were in need of a nice, quiet catch up and two seats were booked around the sushi belt at yazu sushi. it’s a very small place tucked away in mayfair on curzon street in the lively shepherd market. when i say small, it is very small but it’s so light and airy there’s a nice clean atmosphere.

is it a surprise to you by now that i was very very very hungry??? i sure did eat mY 50% share and then some. 10 plates later and i was a very happy bunny. they don’t have that many options so is perfect for a quick munch. we did however, take our time talking wedding.

the food is freshly prepared throughout the day and you can tell that everything is fresh. the staff were more than accommodating making us feel at home in such an intimate space as we were the only two customers there. i must have pulled back the plastic cover on one of the maki dishes and what aroma was that i smell??? truffle mayo!

this dish deserves to be displayed on its own and not in a collage! i love salmon sashimi, i love avocado and i love truffle! this was the best combination ever! i must have had three of these (6pcs in total >.<). i had to recommend them to the next group of customers that walked in because it was that good.

with the discount applied, the bill came up to no more than £40!!! amaze-zing!!! if you’re looking for a quick fix, no hard decisions necessary (go for the truffles) and a nice small bill at the end – come here!

lastly, i have to say that there are a lot of negative reviews on urbanspoon for this place. it’s a shame these people had such a bad experience in there. it was far from that for the two of us. the staff were very welcoming, the lady introduced all the specials on the board, told us if we wanted anything that wasn’t seen on the belt then the sushi master will make for us (which he did and it was fresh), and she constantly topped up our cups of hot green tea. entirely up to you to choose to give them a try or not but we went in june 2014 which was very recent and we enjoyed our time there. bear in mind the reviews were written mostly a year ago so i’m sure improvements have been made.
